When Life Speeds Up: Embracing the Heart of a Child in Uncertain Times
Rediscovering Joy, Love, and Wonder in the Midst of Change
Free Healing Workshop
Saturday, 12 October at 8:00 PT / 11:00 ET
Does it feel like life’s been speeding up lately?
Like everything unresolved—within and around us—is bubbling to the surface, demanding our attention? If you’re sensing this, know that you’re not alone. We’re in the midst of a paradigm shift, both individually and collectively, and these liminal spaces can feel unsettling.
I’ve been asking Spirit how we can move through this challenging time, and the answer comes softly, like a whisper: “Embrace the heart of a child.”
« I’m hosting a free healing workshop, on Saturday, 12 October. Register here.»
At first blush, it seems too simple for the complexity we’re dealing with.
But what if a childlike heart is exactly what we’ve been needing all along?
Not to escape from life’s challenges, but to move through them with a sense of openness, curiosity, and love.
Here’s what I mean:
The Capacity for Love
The other day, I was playing with my three-year-old nephew and hurt myself. Without missing a beat, Connor put his toy down and kissed my knee. Offering the purest, most instinctual form of love. He didn’t pause to wonder if it would help or try to make sense of what happened.
He simply acted from his heart.
Children love instinctively, without the calculations or conditions we often attach to love as adults. They are rooted in love before fear or doubt creeps in. It’s a truth we are all born with, but over time, we forget.
The invitation is to return to this simplicity—to reconnect with love as our most natural state.
Rediscovering Innocence and Wonder
But somewhere along the way, many of us lose touch with this instinctual love.
We begin to anticipate, to plan, to protect ourselves from the unknown. We build walls around our hearts, assuming we know what’s coming based on past experiences. The wisdom we think we’ve gained often becomes a shield, preventing us from seeing the world with fresh eyes.
Children don’t carry this burden.
They meet life with innocence, fully engaged in the moment without any preconceived notions. They aren’t jaded by past disappointments; instead, they greet the world with curiosity and wonder.
Spirit is inviting us to return to this state of openness.
Cultivating Joy in Everyday Moments
For many children, joy is woven into the fabric of their being.
They don’t wait for the perfect moment to feel joyful. They don’t question whether it’s the right time or whether they deserve it. Joy is their default state; it flows effortlessly from engaging in the present moment.
As adults, we often postpone joy, waiting for everything to align just right.
But joy doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from presence. A child finds delight in a dandelion, a puddle, or the magic of hide-and-seek, because they’re fully in the moment, allowing wonder to lead.
We, too, can reclaim this sense of playfulness, especially when we stop measuring it by outcomes and start finding it in the experience itself.
Learning to Trust the Heart of a Child
Yes, everything is speeding up.
And we may feel even greater intensity in the months ahead. Instead of approaching these challenges with harshness, what if we met them with the heart of a child— open, curious, and trusting? Embracing the heart of a child isn’t about ignoring reality or pretending things aren’t difficult.
It’s about meeting reality with softness.
It’s about trusting that love, wonder, and joy are still accessible, even in the midst of upheaval.
Healing Invitation
To support us during this transition, I’m offering a free group healing session next Saturday, 12 October at 8:00 PT / 11:00 ET / 17:00 CET / 23:00 CST.
I’ll be guiding us through a healing meditation to open our hearts and extend healing to the world. Look forward to seeing you there.
